The short version
Are You Into is built to be private. You do not create an account and you never tell us your name (a nickname is optional). Your quiz answers are tied to a random session link, not to your identity, and they are deleted automatically on a fixed schedule: 7 days after you both finish, 30 days while an invite waits for a partner, and 30 days after you buy the full report. A no or a skip is never shown to your partner. Before they answer, your partner sees a short preview of your picks, described below. We never sell your data, we do not use your answers for advertising or marketing, and analytics never see your answers.
What we collect and why
Your quiz answers, so we can compute what you and your partner both chose. They are tied only to a random, unguessable session link, not to your identity. We also keep the gender options you pick (they only word the questions), and a nickname if you give one.
What your partner sees: a no or a skip is never shown to them. Before your partner answers, the invite shows them up to 3 of your yes picks (never from the highest intensity level) and a count of your yes and maybe picks by intensity. If you have no such yes picks, they see blurred cards that show only a category and an intensity. You see those 3 picks on the invite screen before you send it. Once both of you finish, the results list only the topics you both said yes or maybe to. If you share your result card, anyone with that link sees the nicknames you gave and how many topics matched, never the list.
Your report link is a long random code. Search engines are told not to index it and your browser does not pass it on to other sites. Anyone who has the link can open the report, so send it only to your partner.
If you choose to enter an email, we use that address only for emails about your own results: telling you when your partner finishes, a reminder if they have not opened the invite, and sending your report link when you ask. We never add it to a mailing list. It is kept in temporary storage, separate from your answers, until we send the completion email, and for 30 days at most. The emails go through Brevo, our email provider, which handles delivery under its own privacy policy. Our analytics record only a one-way hash of the address so we can count how many people did this, never the address itself.
Payments run on Stripe's hosted checkout. Your card details go to Stripe and we never see or store them.
Our hosting provider is Cloudflare, which processes requests, including IP addresses, as part of delivering the site. We also keep anonymous usage events, for example that a quiz was started or finished, with the time, the session link and a small count such as the number of matches. They contain no answers and no names, and they are not deleted on a schedule.
How long we keep it
Session data, including your answers and any nickname, lives in temporary storage that expires automatically. While an invite waits for your partner it is kept for 30 days from the last time answers or a nickname were saved. Once you both finish, it is kept for 7 days. If you buy the full report it is kept for 30 days after purchase. After that the results link stops working and the data is gone. If you want to keep your report, use the Save as PDF option before it expires.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand how the site is used (for example, how many people start the quiz). To count people rather than clicks, a random id is held for the life of the browser tab and discarded when you close it. It is not a cookie, it does not follow you between visits, and it is not linked to anything about you. Optional product analytics that set a cookie only run if you accept them in the consent banner. We do not run advertising networks or sell any data.
Your choices and contact
Because we hold no account and no identifying profile, there is nothing to log into and little to request. If you have a privacy question, contact contact@areyouinto.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights under the GDPR; given that your data is anonymous and short-lived, in most cases the fastest way to erase it is simply to let the automatic expiry pass.
